backcountry facilities

When nature calls back

Showers

Possibly the worst part of off-road trips like this is living in your own filth for days on end, but that is no longer the case. The Rig carries a shower tent, complete with two bays for both showering and changing. This isn’t just water falling from a suspended bag. These are real, hot, pressurized showers. Open one of the windows and you could be lathering up looking at a mountain or a sunset.

Bring the same toiletries you would bring with you to a hotel. Since we capture and dispose of all shower and sink runoff there is no need for biodegradable soaps.

Number Two

I’m personally not a fan of having to take care of business in the woods, exposed and vulnerable, straddling precariously over my own excrement. That’s why we have a backcountry lavatory. Depending on camp circumstances we may dig a hole to dispose of waste or we might be required to take it back to civilization to be properly disposed of. Regardless, I have it covered. You won’t have to do the dirty work. If you prefer the comfort of modern conveniences we will be passing through towns and stopping at gas stations fairly regularly. Many take the fuel stops as opportunities to relieve themselves and I purposely stop at the cleanest facilities I can. There are also pit toilets at most trailheads if you’re desperate.
