The Menu

After a long day of driving, hiking, climbing, or whatever, it’s imperative to finish the day with a fresh and hardy meal. We won’t be pouring hot water into any bags or eating with plastic sporks. Between the fridge and the cooler I only have a certain amount of space for perishable items, so we make the most of our non-perishable pantry, and multiple-use items go a long way. My favorite camping meals that are simple yet satisfying are listed below.

Substitutions

All meals are made from scratch so substitutions or exclusions are no problem. These meals represent the food that I would eat on trips and are tried and true. I am open to suggestions, but I am also limited to a 56 quart refrigerator and 45 quart cooler to keep fresh ingredients and certain items don’t travel well (items that could get shaken or crushed). These meals are the most conducive to the type of traveling we will be doing.

Restaurants

A big aspect of traveling that I consider essential is trying local foods. If you would like, we can stop at some local spots or try some new foods to get the full experience. Even if you’d just like to stop at a fast food joint you don’t have at home (yes, we have In-N-Out) that’s even easier.
