Sleeping Arrangements

  • Not Just a Tent

I was never much of a fan of tent camping. As a side-sleeper it takes me forever to get comfortable on those sleeping pads and, as a tosser, that comfort doesn’t last long.

Rooftop tents are a totally different experience. They are essentially an RV mattress inside of a military grade tent. There’s no blowing up air mattresses, shifting sleeping pads, or lumpy tree roots. Sleeping under the stars (yes, there are skylights) on a pleasantly crisp night is actually very refreshing. Plus, waking up to an incredible sunrise through your tent screen is absolutely magical. Just make sure you pee before you climb that ladder.

  • Home away from home

The roomy guest tent comfortably sleeps 4 adults, with an optional divider between the two sides. Full size pillows, sheets, and blankets atop a 4” thick foam mattress is a far cry from the average camping expedition. On top of the overland trailer, you are removed from the elements and any ground critters that may have you worried at night. You will have to climb in and out via a 6’ tall ladder, but that’s a small price to pay for a safe and comfortable night’s sleep.

  • Motels

If you don’t think you can spend the entire trip sleeping night after night in a rooftop tent we will be making our way through small towns that have motels, if that’s something that interests you. However, this option may increase driving time to and from sites.
